Fireworks are ready and the forecast is hot, really hot, so it must be the 4th of July. Houston’s downtown skyline provides a perfect backdrop for the annual patriotic pyrotechnic show and 50,000 people are expected to attend Freedom over Texas, Houston’s signature celebration at Eleanor Tinsley Park on Buffalo Bayou (along Allen Parkway).

HPD will block off Memorial and access roads near downtown so check GPS and be prepared to walk. Ideally find a parking garage or curb with a nice view of downtown. The firing range is near downtown just outside the elevated freeway. Follow the tall green glass tower to the ground and the fireworks go off nearby between Memorial and Buffalo Bayou (just east of Sabine Street below I-45).
