Water Works – Ice Water Works

Growing up in farm country opened my eyes to many things often lost to urban dwellers. Water is cool even without ice.

For sure, in the country, I saw farm hands come up to the farmhouse after working in the fields on a hot day. Even with a thin build and a steady gate, they looked hot and tired. However, drinking ice water out of a gallon jug reinvigorated them instantly.

Beyond the farm, everyone took water outdoors with them, especially sportsmen. And usually in volumes unbecoming a biking accessory. You might be surrounded by water while fishing on a lake but you needed more water due to the exposure.

Water Tops the Weight Loss ‘Yes List’

Looking back, I realize that every person that spent time outdoors and consumed lots of water had a healthy, trim physique. Logically, it makes sense. Water fills the tummy and flushes the system of food as well as toxins.

‘Yes List” items for losing Weight

Water tops the list!

Enlist Water to Lose Weight

Water is an elementary weight loss tool. ‘Yes List’ items are not really rules that must be followed. Remember, this is the Freedom Diet. Yes-list items are more like guidelines. Some are simply tricks that might help the worthy cause.

Yes List: Drinking Water Tips, Tricks, Guides

  • Drink a glass of water before opening the refrigerator door.
  • Brush your teeth with a minty toothpaste and drink ice water to skip a snack or end a craving. More on this below.
  • Sip icy water at the end of a meal to stop eating. Satisfaction from consuming a good meal will envelop your mental state soon after.

Flavored water is a great alternative and might work better – give both a try. More yes-list items.

Yes List: Flavored Water

  • Serving suggestion: If at home, always serve in a fancy glass.
  • Ice water with a splash of juice
  • Fizzy water – try it with a twist or add a sprigg of mint
  • Fizzy water with muddled peaches or strawberries
  • Green tea, iced with lemon, lime or diet cranberry juice

Iced green tea with lime and a combination of diet cranberry juice flavors is a personal favorite. I have a double walled glass that doesn’t sweat with condensate, even in the summer.

Big Tip: Ice Water is a Refreshing Snack

Stop the Craving Tip: How is that even possible? How can water be a snack. Rather than a snack, think of ice water as more of a trick in this instance. Instead of having a snack, run for your toothbrush. Brush your teeth with minty toothpaste and then drink ice water out of your most colorful, ornate glassware.

Why it works: The residual minty taste is refreshing and lingers. Ice water seems to enhance and extend enjoyment. Putting some distance between you and the kitchen never hurts. And nothing tastes good—no food tastes good after brushing your teeth.

Bonus Tip: For the same reasons. If you eat smaller meals and brush your teeth immediately after, you will soon think of minty fresh ice water as, well as… dessert!

You’ll lose weight quickly and feel great!

Told you Freedom Diet was flex… and entertaining.
