Catastrophic Comic Con a fun fundraiser

Bravo! Bravo! Catastrophic Theatre entertained the masses and fed them well last month at the Comic Con fundraiser in the Heights. The entrée eats, clever sides, and tasty sweets were matched well with a Deep Eddy Vodka cocktail punch that helped many costumed guests come to life. And when it came to show time, the burlesque was the strip-teasiest ever that one did not have to imagine, producing a parade of gorgeous bombshells in—and out of—suggestive, comic-themed attire. Wow! Can’t wait until next year or lucky me, make that next month, July 9th at Warehouse Live when Kiki Maroon’s Comic Strip strippers come to town.

Yes, many comic guests flitted and frolicked and immersed themselves in various comic theme activities around the spacious hall, the SPJST Lodge #88 on Beall Street.

The silent auction items were phenomenal and I most enjoyed the opportunity to meet, greet and gawk at several notables in attendance.

Was that really a body-painted six-pack?  I’m just packing a rusty old keg, but I was popular for a different reason… I had Santa with me. And Santa ho-ho-hoed his jolly old self all the way to a first place finish in a rub-your-pole contest. Maybe Santa had a built-in advantage since he hailed from a different pole, the one up north, or maybe Santa practices a lot. Regardless, everyone was in a festive mood.

Santa is a big winner

I’m looking forward to what’s up next at Catastrophic Theatre, and what’s up next is at MATCH! Tamarie Cooper is running for president. Tamarie for President starts in July. When it comes to satirical comedy, she already has my vote.
